I adore all things vintage…so for a holiday bridal shower shoot I just had to incorporate the opulent, lavish style of the Victorian Era (sprinkled with some other, just as fabulous eras!). I love the pink, gold and blue ornaments that used to adorn trees mid century, like the ones my grandma had, and carefully would bring out each year for me to decorate her tree. Those ornaments inspired this vintage holiday bridal shower and I hope they can inspire you to incorporate some of these elements which bring so much style and elegance to any party.
The first thing I did was create a Pinterest board called Vintage Christmas, and start pinning away. Countless antique ornaments, old-fashioned desserts and cookies, white Christmas trees, decorated mantels, everything vintage and gorgeous. I could only have pulled this off with the help of the ladies from Bee Lavish, a style and vintage rental shop in Dripping Springs, TX. Once they gave me the ok to shoot there, I contacted Christa from Anista Designs to see if I could have some of her gorgeous, vintage inspired, Christmas tags to incorporate. We had a long list of pastries and desserts that completed the lavish bridal tea party.
For decor, Denise and Priscilla of Bee Lavish set up this cozy, yet stylish entertaining room in the 1920’s original cottage that is their shop. Sheer drapes, white Christmas lights, and a garland of tiny pom poms decorated the windows, and a beautiful chandelier was hung above the table for an elegant touch. The table was kept bare to show off the wood treatment, and the china was all ivory and gold. The lush sofa is a mint green brocade with a gold gilt, and the armchairs are upholstered with original Italian peach fabric.
I wanted to re-create a room where family and friends would sit down for an intimate tea party during the holidays, and the mantle created a beautiful detail. To the side of the room, we have the main dessert table, we also have a small side table with desserts by the window, and we put the cakes in the mantel to show them off. Most of the cakestands, plates, and serving platters are all original antiques. I wanted to keep everything as true vintage as possible. On the table we have vanilla petit fours, wrapped in lace and silver trim, delicious cheesecake bites covered in coconut flakes, small cookie sandwiches, colorful cakepops, French macarons, and a beautiful cherry pie.
I hope you were inspired to try a touch of vintage glam for your bridal shower or even your wedding. You can never go wrong with the timeless beauty and elegance of vintage.
